Playcare Providers

A Playcare Provider cares for children while parents attend class on site. She/he tends to the needs of infants and toddlers and engages them in developmentally appropriate play. For older children, she/he leads activities that teach basic relationship skills.
Necessary Skills and Personal Qualities:
- Possesses positive and upbeat attitude
- Ability to be creative in selecting age appropriate activities for kids
- Skills and knowledge of effective disciplinary practices with children
- Experience caring for infants and toddlers
- Experience with elementary school age children
- Ability to work with children from diverse backgrounds, including children with special needs
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Strong work ethic, including consistent, reliable attendance and job performance
- ECE Units preferred
- Some positions require Spanish
Typical duties could include the following:
- Work with staff and instructors to provide a welcoming environment for families
- Provide safe and fun environment for young children
- Set age appropriate boundaries and use effective disciplinary practices
- Care for infants and toddlers and engage them in age appropriate play
- Carry out activities that teach school age children basic relationship skills (activities and training will be provided)
- Maintain accurate records of attendance
- Keep space clean, and tidy up after class
- Other duties as assigned
Hours: This is a part time job, and hours vary. Typical hours are 6 hours three Saturdays per month or 3 hours one night a week. Trainings will be held in December, and classes begin in January.
Pay Rate: $10 per hour

Flourishing Families Program Instructor

Flourishing Families Program Instructors teach low income parents relationship and family formation skills. Positions are available to teach classes of unmarried parents, married parents, and single parents. Topics include a variety of family formation skills, including communication, money management, goal setting, problem solving together, and the importance of dads. Most classes are co-led by a male and female instructor.
Necessary Skills and Personal Qualities:
- Excellent presentation skills
- Ability to engage participants and create a fun, exciting atmosphere
- Thoroughly understands challenges faced by the low income parents we serve
- Positive and upbeat attitude, and ability to respond appropriately to unexpected challenges on class day
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Strong work ethic, including consistent, reliable job performance
- Ability to appropriately model good relationship skills, and to bring own experience to teaching in an effective way
- Ability to maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with staff
- Couples encouraged to apply to teach together
- Some positions available teaching in Spanish
Typical duties could include the following:
- Work with staff to provide a welcoming environment for families
- Teach groups of 10 to 40 adults relationship skills through presentation, discussion, activities, and demonstrations.
- Follow the designed curriculum, and stays within the scope of the curriculum in advice to participants and direction of class discussions
- Provide safe and fun environment for couples to learn
- Foster a culture of respect, understanding, and support in the classroom
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, and participate fully in evaluation activities
- Assist staff in set up and clean up of classroom
- Participate in ongoing training as provided
- Other duties as assigned
Training will be provided in curricula and procedures, and in child abuse and domestic violence prevention.
Schedule: This is a part time job, and hours vary. Typical hours are 5 hours three Saturdays per month or 2.5 hours one night a week.
Pay Rate: $25 per hour teaching, $15 per hour training
